The Fraxel Laser will help to turn back the clock on your sun-damaged skin. It works to minimize abnormal pigmentation and fine wrinkles in your skin over a series of office-based treatments. From melasma to overall “makes me look old” hyperpigmentation from the sun’s cumulative and undesired aging effects, the Fraxel will help to restore a healthier tone and hue to your skin. By evening out the pigment in your skin, while also helping to tighten fine facial wrinkles, the Fraxel Laser will rejuvenate your skin, making you look younger and healthier in the process.
Dr. Howard has extensive experience with his Fraxel Restore Laser. He can customize your treatment plan according to your needs and skin type. By initializing a skin care treatment plan to help control melanocyte activity and assist healing, Dr. Howard will place you on critical skin care products to prepare your skin for the Fraxel Restore Laser.
The Fraxel Laser works by creating millions of microscopic channels in your damaged skin with an Erbium laser. In fact, the Fraxel Restore Laser was the first fractional laser developed. In all, nearly a million patients have been treated around the world with the Fraxel Laser, so it has established a strong following and reputation for results including Dr. Howard’s patients!
Most commonly, patients will receive a prescribed series of anywhere between four to eight treatments spaced from four to six weeks apart to complete your treatment package. Results will usually become noticeable by the third treatment, and you will continue to form new collagen over the next six months after your last treatment!
Patients show up one hour prior to their scheduled laser appointment time to have a topical anesthetic cream applied to the treatment area. After the topical has been able to numb your skin for around one hour, he will perform your Fraxel Restore Laser treatment, which takes about 25 minutes. Although there is some stinging and prickling sensation during the treatments, the procedure may be performed with you wide awake. Following your treatment, your skin will be cleansed and a moisturizing sun block applied. Your treated skin will show swelling and redness for about three to five days after each treatment. Dr. Howard and his staff will educate you on what to expect at every step of the Fraxel treatment process.
